Complete Document Checklist

Bringing the right documents on the wedding day is the single most important factor in completing your marriage smoothly. The checklist below covers every type of marriage we conduct — Arya Samaj, Hindu Marriage Act 1955, Special Marriage Act 1954, NRI marriages and SDM-level marriage registration. We always check your documents free of cost on WhatsApp before fixing the wedding date.

1. Documents for Arya Samaj Marriage

• Age Proof of Both Partners — Class 10 certificate / birth certificate / Aadhar / Passport / PAN. The groom must be 21+ and the bride 18+ years old.
• Identity Proof — Aadhar Card / Voter ID / Passport / Driving Licence.
• Address Proof — Aadhar / electricity, water or gas bill / bank statement / rental agreement.
• Passport-size Photographs — 4 of each partner (recent).
• Witnesses — 2 witnesses with their ID cards and one photograph each.
• Affidavit of Marital Status — declaration that the partner is unmarried / divorced / widowed (drafted by our advocate).
• Divorce Decree — if either partner was previously married.
• Death Certificate — if a previous spouse is deceased.

2. Documents for Court Marriage (Hindu Marriage Act 1955)

In addition to all the Arya Samaj documents above, the following are required for SDM Marriage Registration —

• Marriage Photographs — Of the Arya Samaj / temple / family ceremony.
• Marriage Invitation Card — If available.
• Priest / Pandit Certificate — The Arya Samaj Marriage Certificate works as priest certificate.
• Affidavits — Joint affidavit declaring the marriage details (drafted by our advocate).
• 2 Witnesses — With ID proof and one photograph each.

3. Documents for Court Marriage (Special Marriage Act 1954)

For inter-religion marriages and civil court marriages, in addition to the basic documents —

• Proof of residence for at least 30 days — for at least one partner in the district where the application is filed.
• 3 Witnesses instead of 2 — each with ID proof and one photograph.
• Form II — Notice of Intended Marriage (drafted by us).
• Religion declaration — partners' religion remains unchanged.
• Original previous-marriage proof if applicable.

4. Additional Documents for NRI Marriage

• Passport — First and last pages (mandatory).
• Valid visa / OCI / PIO card for the country of residence.
• Address proof abroad — utility bill, bank statement, driving licence.
• No-Impediment Certificate — required by some embassies for foreign-national partners.
• Apostille / MEA Attestation — for use of the certificate abroad (arranged by us).

What If a Document Is Missing?

यदि आपके पास कुछ दस्तावेज़ नहीं हैं तो परेशान न हों। उदाहरण के लिए — यदि जन्म प्रमाणपत्र नहीं है तो आयु प्रमाण के लिए 10वीं की Marksheet, Aadhar या Passport प्रयोग किया जा सकता है। यदि निवास प्रमाण किसी एक का नहीं है तो किरायानामा (Rental Agreement) से काम चल जाएगा। हमारे advocate हर स्थिति के लिए वैकल्पिक solution निकालने में सहायता करते हैं।

If you are missing certain documents, do not worry. Most cases have legal alternatives — for example, the 10th certificate can replace the birth certificate; a rental agreement substitutes formal address proof; an affidavit can correct minor name or spelling mismatches. We have handled cases where partners had nothing but their Aadhar card — and we still completed the marriage successfully.
