Whether you are inter-caste, inter-region or inter-religion, you have two clean and lawful routes — Court Marriage under the Special Marriage Act 1954 (30-day notice), or a same-day Arya Samaj Marriage (when both partners accept Vedic principles). Government Marriage Certificate follows in both cases.
The SMA is the ideal choice for couples who do not wish to convert to each other's religion. Both partners retain their original faith. The marriage is filed before a Marriage Officer, displayed publicly for 30 days, and solemnized on the 31st day. Three witnesses are required. If both partners are willing to accept Vedic / Hindu principles — through a simple Shuddhi ceremony if one partner is non-Hindu — an Arya Samaj Marriage is completed the very same day. Under the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation Scheme for Social Integration through Inter-Caste Marriages, eligible couples (where one partner belongs to a Scheduled Caste and the other is from a non-Scheduled-Caste community) can apply for an incentive of ₹2.5 lakh.
